Back in August, I was able to take a vacation over in Scotland. I spent the trip staying in Glasgow, but I was able to take the train up to Edinburgh for a few hours during their Fringe Festival. I only got to see a small part of both cities, but I was blown away by the architecture throughout.

The Batman Part 2 was also being filmed a few blocks away from my hotel in Glasgow, so I was able to take a walk over and see the set. The entire time I was thinking to myself how funny it was that Matt Reeves had to go to the other side of the planet in order to hit the proper Gotham City aesthetic. My only criticism of the set was that the cars parked on the side of the street were in way too good of a condition. After living in Philadelphia for 10 years, I can safely say those cars should have been beat to hell.

I was only in Edinburgh for a few hours, but I got to walk around Old Town and see the old buildings, cathedrals and the castle sitting up on the hill. It was the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, so the place was packed even during the middle of a weekday. I really wish I had been able to stick around and see a few of the shows, but I had to make it back to Glasgow in time to see a show. Next time I'm there, I would like to get out of the touristy section and see more of the actual city proper.
