Boaty.dev is a personal website run by James Boatwright. This page explains what data the site collects, why, and the choices you have.

Analytics (only with your consent)

If you accept analytics cookies, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to measure page views, how visitors find the site, and roughly where they are (country/city level). Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_*, kept for up to 2 years. Google Signals and ad personalization are turned off, and the data is not used for advertising.

Nothing is loaded and no analytics cookies are set unless you choose Accept. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it is treated as a rejection. You can change your choice at any time: . Withdrawing consent deletes the analytics cookies.

Google processes this data on the site's behalf and may transfer it outside the EU under the EU—US Data Privacy Framework. See Google's privacy policy.

Contact form

When you use the contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent to me by email so I can reply. They are not stored on this website or used for anything else. The legal basis is your request to get in touch.

Strictly necessary cookie

The cc_cookie cookie stores your cookie choices so you are not asked on every visit. It is required for the site to respect your choice and is kept for 6 months.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel, which processes standard request data (such as IP address and browser) to serve pages and keep the service secure.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict its processing, and withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. To make a request, use the contact form.
